ANCC National Magnet Conference 2012 - Los Angeles, CA

Arizona Statement

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) – and its Magnet Recognition Program – is excited about the upcoming National Magnet Conference®. Planning for the conference has been underway for more than three years. We work very hard to ensure a worthy event for our participants in the celebration of nursing excellence.

It is unfortunate that the recent debate over Arizona’s new immigration law may add controversy to the choice of location for this exciting event.

The American Nurses Association’s Nursing Code of Ethics calls on nurses to practice with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status, personal attributes, or the nature of health problems.

In support of the nurses in Arizona and around the world who live by this creed, ANCC will continue as planned with the Phoenix event. Nursing has a professional practice obligation to see beyond boundaries and aid wellness. ANCC’s vision is to be a transformational force for global quality healthcare – we have a unique opportunity show leadership in Phoenix through support of the Arizona Magnet hospitals and the communities they serve.
